Today: Extend the joy that comes from within – I Ching

Extend the joy that comes from within.  You are blessed by the grace of God; bless the world in God’s grace.  That is your impact.  That is your legacy.

Read the text from Richard Wilhelm's translation of the I Ching

True joy, therefore, rests on firmness and strength within, manifesting itself outwardly as yielding and gentle. The joyous mood is infectious and therefore brings success.
True joy must spring from within. But if one is empty within and wholly given over to the world, idle pleasures come streaming in from without. This is what many people welcome as diversion. Those who lack inner stability and therefore need amusement, will always find opportunity of indulgence. They attract external pleasures by the emptiness of their natures. Thus they lose themselves more and more, which of course has bad results.
On the one hand a break-through after a long accumulation of tension, as a swollen river breaks through its dikes, or in the manner of a cloudburst. On the other hand, applied to human conditions, it refers to the time when inferior people gradually begin to disappear. Their influence is on the wane; as a result of resolute action, a change in conditions occurs, a break-through.
