NM0410-The Northern Lights – EkOngKar
For the radiant and subtle bodies

So tonight, I like to share with you something, if you give me eleven minutes of your life, it will be nice, if you can give me thirty-one minutes, it will be better, if we can do it for two and half hours, it will be the best. Right? What is a mantra? Mantra is a sound current created by the mixing of the body and the prana...

Mung Beans and Rice – HHC Version

This version of Mung Beans and Rice, the well known staple, was developed by Dev Atma Suroop Kaur .  The recipe originally came from the Golden Temple of Conscious Cookery collection.  It was included in From Vegetables with Love, a cookbook by Siri Ved Kaur, which inspired this version.

This version evolved over many years from our repeated use of the BananaFast a mono diet designed by Yogi Bhajan.  It contains an abundance of green vegetables with other inclusions designed to make the experience very attractive as a mono diet (the banana fast specifies the consumption of mung beans and rice for one complete lunar cycle, full moon to full moon) and very satisfying.

Aside from inclusion in the banana fast, we have used this recipe for mono diets lasting three days, two to three times per month.  Each batch provides food for three meals daily for three days for two people.

Recipe: Banana Fast

We have done this fast many times..  It has many excellent effects.

  • Super increased flexibility in the body, particularly the joints
  • Expansive meditative space, allowing you go go into very deep trance
  • Profoundly stimulates intuition
  • I lost about 20 lbs each time I did the diet

and some side effects

  • It puts some stress on the heart, particularly if you have a very strenuous exercise schedule. Maybe take it easy a little during the fast.
  • I did not keep off the weight for very long.

Instructions
This diet removes drug deposits from the medulla. It must be started on the day of the New Moon and continued for 14 days until the Full Moon. It is intended to build up worn tissues and adjust the iron, sodium, and potassium factors in the body. This diet takes away the sodium and replaces calcium.

Breakfast: 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice with the pulp left in, and sweetened with honey. After 1 hour, eat 3 (yes, three bananas). Chew thoroughly, this is very important, and be sure to eat the strings of white which cling to the banana. Immediately after the bananas eat the contents of one whole cardamom pod. The cardamom turns the bananas into liquid and changes the effect of the bananas on the digestive system.

Lunch: 3 bananas followed by one whole cardamom pod.

Dinner: 3 bananas followed by one whole cardamom pod. This diet has its side effects, so be prepared: Yon may feel weak from the lack of customary nervous stimulus. In that case take more orange juice and honey during the day. If constipation is the problem, increase the cardamom pods to a maximum of 3 at a time. Also drink large amounts of hot water periodically. Yogi Tea may be taken along with mis diet You may find yourself feeling excessively emotional and short tempered. If you have a severe reaction to the diet, then discontinue (break the fast according to the following instructions, however, and try it again when your system has undergone more preliminary purification.)  The Banana Fast is not recommended for people who have had no previous cleansing purification diets.

After the 14 days of bananas, on the 15th day of the moon, you should take lemon juice in warm water with honey. Then for the next 28 days, you should go on Mung Beans and Rice Diet.  This diet is for the kidneys and higher meditation.

The proportions of mung beans to rice is slightly different when you are taking it as part of the Banana Fast, and therefore you should follow the recipe as given here:

  • Cook 1 part mung beans to 2 parts rice and about 10 parts of water (it is essential to use adequate amounts of water so that the final product is “soupy” and not solid.)
  • Green vegetables should be cooked right in with the mung beans, and rice (green pepper, broccoli, string beans, zucchii \ etc.)
  • Turmeric and fresh mint leaves must be cooked in the mug beans and rice (dried: mint may be used if necessary.)
  • Any fresh fruit may be taken to supplement the diet, and of course Yogi Tea.
  • No dairy products for these 28 days.
  • (Note for Women: with this fast the menstrual period may come 2 weeks early, but with minimum food intake the discomfort should be slight)

Meditation: Shuniya Meditations as Taught by Yogi Bhajan, Yoga West, 1994

“Any nervous disorder you can conquer by this exercise”
“I want you to go home just enriched with something.  Not just came to a class and learned something.  No, come to class, be something.  Don’t come here to learn with me.  There are so many people who teach you to learn things.  There is a difference.  Here, you have to be, not to learn.  Learning, go somewhere else”.

Yogi Bhajan came to Yoga West in October-November 1994. He taught a series of classes designed to break the hypnotic trance that locks our psyches in a habitual pattern of perception. Going beyond the familiar forms that limit our perception we can stabilize a state of Shuniya in ourselves that allows us to perceive reality as it is.

Modality: Healing with the Elements

The Elements, Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Ether comprise our physical world.  The Prana of our mortal incarnation gathers them in combination while we live.  They are released when our Prana can no longer hold them and then we expire.  The approach of healing with the Elements seeks to bring them into balance when one or more of them are in excess or deficient.  Healing in this way  can apply to our physical system as well as to the way we relate with everything.

When we study the Elements as a healing modality we become aware of their presence and impact in relation with the healing event.  With our intention we can then modify the alchemical soup of the system and bring about balance.

Healing with Elements is fast and impactful, though not as precise as with other contemplative forms of healing.  It is used to produce quick and powerful results. Practicing this art will produce a deep knowledge of the nature of the Elements and help us to master them for the purpose of healing.

Look for the next workshop on this important modality.

Meditation: NM0415 – 20010910 – Karma & Dharma

Yogi Bhajan – Espanola September 10,2001

Clasp hands at the heart.  Left hand fingers cover right hand.

Chant the mantra Ang Sang Waheguru.  Use the tongue to produce pressure on the upper palate, without touching.  Vibrate the mantra there.  Hold the sound there, feel the resistance, and release it. You will see everything from the inside. 31 min.

Meditation: NM142 19940615 – Bless the Planet Earth and Let the Heavens Descend in You

Bend the left elbow into the side of the body. Bring the forearm up towards the chest as far as it will go, palm facing the body. Then bend the palm back flat on the wrist, so it is parallel to the ceiling. The right arm is extended straight out in front of the body, no bend in the elbow, palm flat and facing the floor. Both the right arm and the left flattened palm should be level with each other. Hold the position.

Eyes: Closed.

Focus: Focus your closed eyes on the top of your skull, the soft spot you had when you were a baby. (The spot you exit through at death.)

Breath: Breathe long, slow and deep and very consciously.

Guru Dev Mata, Guru Dev Pita by Gurujiwan Singh, Wahe Guru Kaur & Sangeet Kaur

Time: 19 minutes.

End: Inhale deeply, hold the breath and make your hands like steel (just the hands from shouders onward), squeeze and tighten them. Bring the spine into the lining. (Hold 25 seconds.) Exhale. Inhale a second time. (Hold 10 seconds.) Exhale. Inhale deep a third time, and this time squeeze the entire body. (Hold 20 seconds.) Exhale and relax.

Comments/Effects: The left hand in this position, represents our initial brain. In this kriya, the posture means, “Initiallly you must hold yourself.” When you read in the Bible, the word ‘Behold,’ it really means ‘hold yourself,’ nothing else. The right extended arm is saying, ‘Your extension must bless.’ When you bless, God shall bless you. That’s the promise.

Technically, make sure the hands remain at the same level, and it will effect you very powerfully.

Bless the planet Earth and let the heavens descend in you.

Lecture:

If we can bring our mind to our stability and meditative Infinity, and we’ll try to relax, and for everything we ask ourself, ”Is it noble?”  ”Is it noble?”  ”Am I noble?”  ”What I am doing is noble?”  ”Is it taking me to nobility?”

Don’t decide what is reality.  Don’t decide what is wrong, don’t decide, don’t judge.  Don’t take the Adam’s guilt and spread it to you and to your generation.  Don’t ruin your seed.

Just ask one word, “My beautiful, bountiful, blissful God has made to me, find my nobility.”  And use your all ability to find your nobility.  You’ll be shocked!  You will realize that we have a companionship with God and moment you realize there is a companionship between you and God, and it becomes real to you, it’s very, very, very bewitching.

Because what all is outside of you, it is also inside you.  Things you can say and things you can do may not mean anything.  But things you can project and reflect may affect all the universe.

The knowledge, the courage, the character, the conception which you have, that is beyond Divinity.  God seeks the company of such men and woman who have achieved that being defined, has found Infinity.

Nanak das door mangay

Nanak asked the dust of the lotus feet of those who repeat the grace, the glory, and makes others to do the same.

Because there is nothing which can limit you and there is nothing which you cannot have because God is Infinity and you are finite.  And when your finite is confined within your finite, you have already closed all doors to opportunity and ecstasy.  But the moment you open up to Infinity, you become Infinity.  And this is what Age of Aquarius is.  You all shall die in vain and insane, as Pisceans, if you do not enter in the Age of Aquarius with width, with vastness, with openness.

You have to be vast, open, noble, courageous, selfless.  You have to stop having vengeance with your own self.  Limiting your own self is a very vengeful act.

So let us see tonight what we can do.  It’s a very special sacred kriya. It’s called “Shunya Kaal Karni Kriya.”
