“Stay on your path toward good fortune.  No need to question your practice.  Just contemplate each choice adequately before acting and assess every choice in retrospect.  Do not repeat mistakes. Experience is your teacher.” – Today’s Reading

Stay on your path toward good fortune.  No need to question your practice.  Just contemplate each choice adequately before acting and assess every choice in retrospect.  Do not repeat mistakes.   Experience is your teacher.

Determination has settled into a steady course toward good fortune.
That was no way to start, but it will lead to a glorious ending.
Consider any crossroad three days before pressing on.
Check your bearings for three days following, to ensure you haven’t strayed from your course.

This verse is relevant to choices made on a grand scale :
Tao Te Ching – Verse 17 – When the Master governs, the people are hardly aware that he exists. Next best is a leader who is loved. Next, one who is feared. The worst is one who is despised.

Previous reading: “The great leader attracts people of ability who are expert in directing affairs, then selects the right people to govern without his interference.”

Previous previous reading: “A leader may accomplish less by being carefully reserved in judgement, though it assures opportunities for successful and beneficent influence.”

57 – Fifty-Seven.  Sun / The Penetrating Wind

Wind follows upon wind, wandering the earth, penetrating gently but persistently:
The Superior Person expands his influence by reaffirming his decisions and carrying out his promises.

Small, persistent, focused effort brings success.
Seek advice from someone you respect.

SITUATION ANALYSIS:

Gentle persuasion is the key in this instance.
Though the words are soft, their speaker must be firm, calm and confident.
Gentle words are worthless if spoken with trepidation.
Wordless influence by example is also effective in this situation.
All persuasion should be almost unfelt, yet consistent and persistent.
Ask for feedback from someone you know to be an effective persuader.

Nine in the fifth place means:

Determination has settled into a steady course toward good fortune.
That was no way to start, but it will lead to a glorious ending.
Consider any crossroad three days before pressing on.
Check your bearings for three days following, to ensure you haven’t strayed from your course.

Perseverance brings good fortune.
Remorse vanishes.
Nothing that does not further.
No beginning, but an end.
Before the change, three days.
After the change, three days.
Good fortune.

In the situation described in Ku, WORK ON WHAT HAS BEEN SPOILED (18), an entirely new point of departure must be set up, whereas here it is only a question of reforms. The beginning has not been good, but the moment has been reached when a new direction can be taken. Change and improvement are called for. Such steps must be undertaken with steadfastness, that is, with a firm and correct attitude of mind; then they will succeed, and remorse will disappear. But it must be remembered that such improvements require careful consideration. Before a change is made, it must be pondered over again and again. After the change is made, it is necessary to note carefully for some time after how the improvements bear the test of actuality. Such careful work is accompanied by good fortune.
4 – Four.  Mêng / Inexperience

A fresh Spring at the foot of the Mountain:
The Superior Person refines his character by being thorough in every activity.
The Sage does not recruit students; the students seek him.
He asks nothing but a sincere desire to learn.
If the student doubts or challenges his authority, the Sage regretfully cuts his losses.

SITUATION ANALYSIS:

This is a time of interchange between a mentor and pupil.
Whether you are the teacher or the student, it is a time of companionship along a mutual path.
This hexagram also emphasizes the eternal, cyclical nature of the mentor/student relationship — a mentor is merely a more seasoned pupil, further along on the journey.
A pupil holds within himself the seed of a future Master.

Today: “There is nothing more precious than the self. ” Yogi Bhajan

“There is nothing more precious than the self. There is nothing more beautiful than the self. There is nothing greater than the self. Only with the self can you realize that there is a God, a Supreme Consciousness of the Supreme Self.” Yogi Bhajan
